Common Use
Dostinex is a synthetic ergoline that strongly and persistently inhibits prolactin secretion by binding to dopamine D2 receptors. Prolactin is a hormone released by the pituitary gland. Dostinex is used to treat hyperprolactinemia (high prolactin levels) and to reduce or prevent breast milk production except after childbirth (postpartum).

Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Administer orally twice weekly.
Treatment usually continues for at least 6 months.
Dosage adjustments are generally made every 4 weeks based on blood prolactin tests.
