Common Use
Revia is an opioid antagonist used as part of a complete treatment program to help prevent relapse in drug or alcohol dependence. It works by blocking the euphoric and sedative effects of opioids and reducing the craving for alcohol or narcotics.
-
It is not effective if opioids are currently being used, including methadone.
-
Revia is also prescribed for the treatment of alcohol dependence.
Dosage and Administration
-
The usual adult dose is 50 mg once daily, with or without food.
-
In supervised programs, higher doses (e.g., 100–150 mg) may be taken every 2–3 days as directed by a physician.
-
You must be opioid-free for at least 7–10 days before starting Revia to avoid acute withdrawal symptoms.
-
Always follow your doctor’s instructions precisely.
