Generic Stromectol (Ivermectin)

Stromectol is an anthelmintic (anti-parasitic) medication used to treat infections caused by certain parasites. It works by paralyzing and killing sensitive parasites, helping the body eliminate them.

It is commonly prescribed for:

• Strongyloidiasis (intestinal infection)

• Onchocerciasis (river blindness)

• Scabies and lice (off-label use)

Dosage and Administration

• Take Stromectol by mouth on an empty stomach with a full glass of water.

• Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage based on your weight and the type of infection.

• Some infections may require repeated treatments and follow-up tests to ensure complete eradication.

• Always follow your doctor’s instructions and attend all medical appointments.

Precautions

• Stromectol may cause dizziness or drowsiness, especially when combined with alcohol or other medications.

  • Avoid driving or performing hazardous tasks until you know how the drug affects you.

• Lightheadedness or fainting can occur, particularly after rising from a lying or sitting position—stand up slowly.

• Tell your doctor if you’ve been exposed to Loa loa (a parasite common in West or Central Africa), as rare but serious brain complications may occur.

Contraindications
Do not use Stromectol if you are:

Drug Interactions

• Warfarin – Stromectol may increase the effects and side effects of warfarin

Missed Dose

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember.

• If it’s almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose.

• Do not double the dose to catch up.

Overdose
In case of overdose, seek emergency medical help immediately.
Symptoms may include:

• Numbness, tingling

• Loss of coordination

• Breathing difficulty

• Seizures

• Store at room temperature below 30°C (86°F)

• Keep away from light and moisture

• Do not store in the bathroom
